Ramsbeck mining trail

The mining hiking trail starts at the Sauerland visitor mine and ideally complements the museum visit. With a total of 41 richly illustrated desks and large panels in mostly beautiful panoramic settings, it leads through the mining landscape around Ramsbeck.

In addition to already early medieval mining traces from the time of the Ottonian emperors, there are also numerous traces of the euphoric construction phase of the "California in the Sauerland" (1853), the industrial expansion of mining operations since 1855 and the zinc-lead mining that flourished until 1974.

The trail covers a total distance of 10 km, which can be comfortably hiked in 3 or 4 sections. They all start in the center of Ramsbeck. At a total of 25 benches and tables you can take a break or just enjoy the landscape. During guided hikes (), toilets and drinks are available at the "Alwine" hut. They can be booked through the Sauerland visitor mine, where you can also get a detailed accompanying brochure with hiking map.
