The "Kilianstollen" in Marsberg

The Kilianstollen visitor mine, which has existed since 1984, is a reminder of the thousand-year-old tradition of copper mining in the Marsberg area.

In Marsberg, copper ores have been extracted from Carboniferous siliceous shales and overlying Zechstein limestones since the 12th century. The Kilianstollen visitor mine, which has existed since 1984, is a reminder of the thousand-year-old tradition of copper mining in the Marsberg area. In addition to old gears and interesting exhibits from the mining history, dripstones and various minerals impress with their colorfulness.

A special feature of the mine are the guided tours with the mine train, which is still in operation.

Who would have thought that stones are so colorful...?
