The City Museum in Battenberg

Housed in the historic town hall, a 17th century half-timbered building, the museum illustrates the history of the small mountain town.

The influence the landgraves of Hesse-Darmstadt, who built their hunting residences here, had on Battenberg is the subject of the exhibition on hunting history, where the antlers of the famous Battenberg stag from 1767 (copy) can also be seen. A separate exhibition area is also dedicated to mining in the region, which focused on manganese ore.

Not far from the exhibition rooms is the Burgstollen visitor mine, which can be reached on foot in five minutes from the market square (guided tour only).

Further information about the Battenberg City Museum can be found on the museum's homepage.
