Georg-Viktor-Tower-PANORAMA

Experience the past live on your smart phone or tablet!

What did our landscape look like 250 million years ago? How did the regional rocks form and under what conditions did the famous Korbach primeval dachshund Procynosuchus actually live? Visitors to the Korbacher Eisenberg near Goldhausen not only get answers to these and many other questions, but also a precise and realistic picture. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, you can immerse yourself in the history of the earth and its secrets on the Georg Viktor Tower, live on your smartphone or tablet.

The landscape history of the Waldeck-Frankenberg region and the surrounding areas holds many exciting secrets. But the traces of the past are often difficult to read and can only be interpreted by specialists. So how do you provide access to the history of the earth and regional landscape development?

In cooperation with the city of Korbach we have dealt intensively with this question and are now using modern augmented reality technology to bring times long past into the present. A smartphone or tablet is enough and visitors open up a completely new world of a primeval sea, long-extinct plants and animals, desert landscapes and mountain ranges.

250 million years of geological history come to life and become tangible as they are integrated into the current landscape - a completely new form of knowledge transfer. Add to this the digital reconstruction of the 17th-century castle ruins and the historical surroundings that you can admire from the tower.

The implementation of the landscape reconstructions could be realized thanks to the support program "Starke Heimat" of the Hessian Ministry for Digital Strategy and Development. There were costs of 150,000€, which were subsidized with a grant of 135,000€.
The “Strong Homeland” program supports local authorities in important future projects. Around 400 million euros are available for this from 2020 to 2024, of which around 100 million euros alone for the digitization of the municipalities.
In addition, the digital reconstruction of Eisenberg Castle was supported by the European LEADER program in the Diemelsee-Nordwaldeck region.
