Gold track Eisenberg

The Eisenberg Gold Trail is more than just a nature trail. It impressively documents the traces of historical mining at Germany's richest gold deposi.

The Gold Trail is divided into two independent sections that can be hiked separately. The 1st section describes by means of 12 information stations the most important traces of the gold miners in Goldhausen and around the castle ruin Eisenberg with Georg-Viktor-Tower on the top of the Eisenberg. This first track has a length of about 3.3 km. You should plan about 1.5 hours for the walk.

The 2nd section runs southeast on the Eisenberg and leads past the visitor mine of the Unteren-Tiefen-Tal-Stollen. It can be walked in a period of about 2-3 hours. Since this trail also includes steep sections through the forest, sturdy shoes are necessary!

The best place to start the nature trail is at the hikers' parking lot at the lower end of the Turmweg on the southern edge of Goldhausen (Station 1, circular route R1). In addition, guided tours of the gold mine take place every other weekend from May to October. Special tours can be arranged for groups upon request. A detailed accompanying brochure and a short information flyer can be purchased at the Korbach Tourist Information or the Wolfgang Bonhage Museum Korbach.
