The Borkener Braunkohle-Rundweg leads through ten districts and the core city as well as past the 20 former mining operations, the lignite-fired power plant and the various locations of the Hessian Lignite Mining Museum.
There are many opportunities for cycling, hiking, but also for getting to know the beautiful landscape around Borken with its numerous material witnesses from the "brown coal era".
The museum building of the visitor gallery of the Hessian Lignite Mining Museum is a good starting point for a hike or a bike tour along the circular route. Each route is marked with the symbol "Braunkohle Rundweg" and in different colors.
Tip
Combine the tour of the lignite circular route with a visit to the lignite visitor mine.
